This will be my last entry. I'm going back to my regular Journal (now mirrored on LJ) as I'm not sure I need to be publishing my daily activities, esp. when it takes time I could be spending on more reflective posts.

Saturday:
I again let boy keep the car. I had grand plans for getting things done regarding the job search and the housework. I ended up spending time on the personal online as well as chat. I updated some webring code on my website and sent e-mails to a number of new friends as well as to two of my discussion lists. I did a bit of kitchen work, but mostly was at the keyboard all day. I printed out some sample household paperwork and read it, pen in hand, for ideas. I took notes. I also started on a list of chores for the household that boy and I can go over on Sunday. boy called to say he was on his way home and had to be back for a banquet at 7pm. When he got home, we talked a bit and napped, then he went back to work after dropping me at Bashas. I did a bit of shopping and walked home. Made dinner (left over fettucine) and spent some computer time chatting and playing games. boy was only gone for a little over 2 hours and he came home and played his own games. Went to bed a little before 11 and turned the TV on for the first time all day to watch a bit of "Angel" and an episode of "Coupling" while boy read. Lights out before midnight.

I let boy take the car to work, as there wasn't any point in my keeping it. I spent a quiet morning on the computer and doing kitchen chores. In the afternoon I decided to tackle the last of the tubs of paperwork my dad brought with him. I got about halfway through it, including sorting through some of the earlier financial stuff for dates and compiling envelopes of records to keep (since the financial papers had been scattered through all three tubs, I had to wait to do this step). I still have to sort through a few folders and then label and file things. I also have about half a tub of college notebooks to go through. I made it through six or seven of them before boy got home. We took a nap together (boy slept more than me), then showers and a quick dinner before getting ready for the party. I had received my severance check in the mail, so we stopped at a store bank to deposit it and get share food. The party was great -- a lot more women than usual and some wonderful play. We had a breakthrough on what's been blocking boy for the past few months. Now I know where we need to direct our energy. It was well after midnight when we made it home and after some cheese (I needed protein!) and reading to wind down, we went to sleep.

Took boy to work and then home for breakfast and some computer time. Headed to the library for some research on 1)career/job hunt, 2)collage, 3)writing, 4)general reading. I think I was there for about 2-2.5 hours. Then home and a late lunch (I was afraid boy would call me to pick him up as soon as I sat down to eat, but he didn't). Retrieved boy and came home. he went on a quick store run as we were expecting C for dinner/negotiating. They both arrived at about the same time and we had a nice evening of getting to know her better and yummy spinach fettucine with alfredo sauce. We negotiated for Friday night's party and then C headed home. We talked a bit, checked e-mail, read, went to bed.

Up and took boy to work. Went to Sprouts & Whole Foods for a few items on the way home. (It seems all the stores in this area have stopped stocking our favorite bulk granola, Mocha Almond, so I'm wondering if it's been discontinued.) Did some computer correspondence and then worked on rearranging the dining alcove. Tex had some people over to look at his dining table. He ended up selling that and his microwave while I was doing the rearanging. I'm much happier with the zen room/library and dining alcove now. There's still a few things needed and I'll consider them "done." The bedroom just needs artwork. Same with the living room. The great room and guest room need the most work. And it's not even noon. I'm having a very productive week! Not sure what I did with the afternoon. Picked boy up from work and did a bit of shopping, then home for dinner. I watched "Lost" (what a waste of time for the diligent viewer, though I'm sure it was good for those who came to the series later in the season to get a recap before the last four episodes air) and taped "Revelations" to watch with boy later. I was having headache issues and boy was busy with his own stuff, so I went to the bedroom early to read and rest. After a bit of conversation about whether or not I was mad at boy (I wasn't) we eventually went to sleep.

Woke up a bit early so we could get some errands done and then work on the house, but boy got a phone call from work before he even made it out of bed. They needed him to work even though it was his "Sunday", so he got up and went to work. I then took the car and did more shopping and got home about two hours later to find out Tex had also gotten a call to go into work. So I was nice enough to give him a ride (his car is too dangerous to drive and the bus would have taken him over an hour due to stupid routing). After dropping *him* off, I spent a few more hours shopping, then home for a sandwich for lunch and a bit of TV. I panicked when I realized we'd forgotten to set the DVD to record "First Wave" on SciFi channel (they only air episodes once a month, so missing a day means missing eight shows). I did manage to get the last two recorded and went to pick up boy. We went to one of the thrift stores I'd scoped out earlier in the day and left with a shelving unit for the dining alcove and a new, sturdier "boy table" for him. Home and I did some re-arranging of the shelves we do have while boy did some chores and made dinner. Then I watched TAR and did some computer stuff. Got a phone call from an LA friend that kept us up later than we planned, but was a wonderful connection. boy watched a PBS documentary on the Ramones during the call and then we settled a few household things and went to bed.

It was boy's day off, but we got up and busy by 8am. We had to move the bed to the guest room and vaccuum, etc. Then we had a nice breakfast of belgium waffles and finished up just before the delivery men arrived with our new bed! Memory foam, queen-size, new frame. This is the first brand new bed I've bought in my life. After getting it settled and showering, etc., we headed out to do some "quick" shopping so we could get back home and work on organizing the guest room and the zen room/library. Four/five hours later we made it home and collapsed into bed for a nap (after unloading our pitifully few purchases). It was nice to spend the time with boy, but I hate shopping and so does he. Woke up with the alarm at 5pm so we could shower, eat a quick, light meal, and then off to the Monday meeting. The presentation was nice, but it was connecting with so many dear friends that made it a wonderful evening for us. Home to a late snack and some tv before our first night of sleep on the new bed.

Went to the bday party of a dear friend and his L family. Lots of sugar and lots of fun. Then went to see the Femme & the Butch since they lived "nearby" (12 miles or so, but 10 mins is better than the 45-60 that it usually takes to go visit them). It was nice to spend time with them both and boy got to pet their horses. It was a long, hard drive home and boy almost fell asleep driving (I had fallen asleep, but woke up to help him stay up the rest of the drive). We pretty much fell into bed as soon as we got home.

Took boy to work and enjoyed the clear views created by the recent winds/rainy weather. Had planned to go to the bank, but Tex didn't get the last of his money until they picked up the TV and the banks were already closed. Cleared one of the computer tables so that I could spread out my collage materials and organize them into more functional storage. Did a little bit of testing how certain papers overlay and then boy called. Brought him home and he changed/cleaned up while Tex got ready for work. We drove Tex back to the CC and then went to shop a bit. The first stop was to pay for our new bed. Between boy's tax refund and the money from Tex, we paid in full, no credit card or financing. We had scheduled the bed to be delivered on Monday. More errands and then home so boy could have a quick nap before going back for a second shift. I spent a quiet evening with computer games and some surfing and then bed when boy got home.

Called the old office since I hadn't received a check. Ops Manager said she'd contact HR. Spent a considerable chunk of time setting up a new LJ for mysElf. It will mirror my existing Journal on blogspot and allow me to participate in communities there and with through friends lists with people I already know. I will be ending this vanilla journal with the April 30 entry. Finding the right template and making it coordinate with the existing Journal and site took some time. As did connecting with friends to get on their friends lists. I'm excited about the prospects. Got through another tub from Dad and took care of some household chores. Tex was able to pay back the money that had bounced and informed us that he had sold the TV in the living room. We appreciate that he's having money problems and is doing what he can to pay us back. As of that date, he was current, but there's plenty of utilities due as well as rent at the first of the month, so we'll see.

Still waiting for check, so boy took car to work again. Got through one of the storage tubs of paper that Dad brought with him from Kansas. Found some interesting stuff: the CIA application I filled in when I was graduating from college, various conservative and republican documents from my stint as a college republican (boy shivered at the Bush Sr. stuff and the "vote republican" bumper sticker), tons of programs from plays I went to on campus and don't remember the plot, two cute picture of the Baby Cat from when he was younger, old Dilbert comic strips (late 80s/early 90s), press notices of academic accomplishments from high school that I had forgotten, and lots more. I need to go through the financial stuff for dates and get rid of the really old stuff, but I ended up with a bag of recycle, a bag of trash, and a stack of reuse, so it was a good start. Oh -- and I have a folder full of "collage graphics and papers" too! It's a nice sense of accomplishment, but there's still two more tubs to go. Tex asked if we could all talk when he got home from work to get the "mess straightened out" which I figure meant the outstanding financial issues. However, he wasn't home by 11 and we had to get to sleep so boy could go to work early.

I posted a quick update for each day of the month. I'll try to get back and expand some of the entries over the next few days, but no promises. Today is dedicated to taxes, cleaning, boy-time, and setting some things in motion that we discussed at/inspired by the weekend conference. boy returns to work tomorrow. There is a job fair tomorrow I hope to attend and my father should be arriving either Thursday night or Friday morning to spend the weekend with us.

momentary mood: satisfied
Up around 7am. Met friends for breakfast at 8:30 and then two of them followed us home to hang out and share. Our noon appointment was running late, but when she arrived, the others were still there and we all had a nice time together. The couple left and the remaining three of us headed out to order pizza and rent movies (which was our plan for the afternoon). Home and watched "The Incredibles" and then engage in some play since there wasn't time for the second movie. It was wonderful to share time with the Femme -- it's been much too long!! She left as we headed to the local space for Monday night meeting. The presentation ran long, but was wonderful and we loved having a chance to continue the energy from the weekend and connect with people again. Plus, I made sure a variety of our friends helped me tease and torment boy as part of a day-long campaign. Home to some incredible intimate time and then we crashed.
